Open and shut

I had some old cupboard doors and I attached them to the wall divider.
We are learning the concept of open and shut, counting, and colours … The kids love it!

Learning our colours

I had a whole bunch of balls that the kids just threw around the daycare.. We needed a purpose for them, so I made colour tubes! I went to the hardware store and picked up these bends I think for plumbing and strapped them to the wall in our discovery area. I then painted them colours to match the balls and placed a container underneath to catch them. It works amazingly! The kids love it! And so do i … no more balls being thrown around.

Homemade whiteboards

. I had a small bare wall and three rolls of dollar store white board sticky paper. It is full of bubbles but the kids don’t seem to mind. Maybe later I can use a pin a push the air out. But for now wow! What lovely masterpieces!

Shamrocks

I found business card protectors at the dollar store as well as some foam shamrock shapes. The protectors work as an amazing laminate! The kids like counting the shamrocks or carrying them around because they are just fun to look at .

In and out

Scribbles are good!

Working together creating big scribble pictures has more benefits then you may know! They are learning… Colours, team work, space recognition, sharing, manners, early writing skills, creativity, and that is just off the top of my head!

Feathers

Birds have feathers. The kids love play dough. It is so much more fun when you add something different. This month we are talking about winter birds, so I gave them feathers to stick in the play dough this week.

We are learning about winter birds this month. Today we made red and bluebirds, bluejays and cardinals, from circles and triangles and a cut out sandpaper branch.

Cheap Christmas decorating for daycare

  Old  laminated christmas cards with velcro on the back… and used canvases covered in wrapping paper to hang on the wall.
